People tend to talk about an epoxy floor as a single thing. It is not. What goes down is a system, and how long it lasts depends far more on the preparation and the topcoat than on the epoxy in the middle of it.
The concrete comes first. It is porous, so it takes in oil and solvents and stains from within, and it abrades into dust underfoot. Until that surface is opened up mechanically, nothing bonded to it is reliable.
Dialed In Epoxy grinds and profiles the slab, vacuums it, and repairs every crack and hole before coating. Only then does the resin go on, keying into the concrete instead of sitting on it.

Metallic is the decorative end of what we install.
The color sits in a clear coat and is moved through it as it cures, so it pools and travels instead of lying flat. Depending on how it is worked it comes out looking like marble, granite, wood grain, flowing water or stone.
Nothing about that is repeatable, so no two metallic floors match. It mixes to brand colors or to an interior scheme, which is why it belongs in a showroom or a display garage more than in a working bay.
Flake is the system we specify for a garage that gets used.
Polymer flakes are broadcast into the base coat and scraped back, then two coats of UV stable polyaspartic go over the top. Those topcoats are the layer that takes the wear and keeps the slab beneath it protected.
The flake bed gives the floor texture, so it does not turn slick when wet, and it stands up to chemicals, heavy foot traffic and light vehicle traffic. Commercial garages and engine performance workshops get the same specification.
Cleaning it means a damp mop and mild detergent, not waxing or stripping. It is moisture resistant and UV stable, so we run it outdoors onto driveways, patios and pool decks as well. We take the same system up the US 93 as well, for garage flooring in Lake Havasu City.
The cured system is hard and thick, so vehicles, foot traffic and dropped tools do not chip or wear it through. Moisture, dust, dirt and grime stay on the surface, along with tire pick-ups and spilled chemicals.

Sealed concrete has no pores for dirt to work into, so a damp mop and mild detergent does the job. Cleaning on a regular schedule is what keeps the finish looking new.
Both topcoats are 100% UV stable, so a Wickenburg floor in direct sun does not discolor. Underneath, the base coats form a waterproof barrier that stops the system lifting or peeling off the concrete.
Left bare, concrete cracks and stains because it is rigid and porous. The coating acts as a stronger and more flexible layer over the top, absorbing the damage and holding the stains out of the slab.
Six steps, run in the same order on every Wickenburg floor, from opening the concrete up to sealing the finished surface.
We start by mechanically grinding, profiling, and vacuuming the concrete garage floor to ensure the strongest adhesion possible.
No matter the damage, we repair every crack and hole in the garage floor.
We apply a base coat for flake flooring and 100% solids epoxy or primer coat for metallic epoxy.
For flake flooring, we broadcast the polymer flakes to provide even color and texture. For the metallic floor, we apply the metallic color coat. For 100% solids epoxy, we apply the second coat.
For flakes, we scrape off all excess bits to prepare the floor for the final step.
We finish with two coats of UV stable polyaspartic topcoat.
