Garage Polyaspartic Flooring in Phoenix

Concrete Coatings in Wickenburg

Exterior concrete around Wickenburg tends to run longer and more exposed than it does in town: approach drives, parking aprons, and the walkways and patios belonging to properties with room around them. Dialed In Epoxy coats them in UV stable polyaspartic, base and topcoat both, because anything left in full daylight under an epoxy topcoat ambers within a season or two. ROC 358358, and we are licensed, bonded and insured.

A Long Drive Is a Different Quote

Area is the least useful thing to know about a driveway. What sets the work is the condition it is in along its length, and a long approach is rarely in one condition from end to end. The stretch nearest the road takes the turning traffic and the worst of the sun. The stretch nearest the house takes oil, and often shade for part of the day, which changes how it has weathered. Cracks, spalled edges and pitted areas are cut out, filled and ground flush wherever they fall, so the repair does not telegraph through the finish.

Dust is the other thing a long run of concrete has to deal with here. Bare concrete abrades underfoot and under tires and sheds a fine gray film that gets carried indoors and settles on whatever is stored near it. Sealing the slab stops the surface itself being the thing that wears, so it stops producing the dust in the first place. That counts for more on a property where the drive is what everything arrives across. A sealed drive also stops the grit that gets tracked across it from grinding into the surface, so the concrete keeps its finish instead of dulling in the wheel tracks. The whole build is written out on our Phoenix page: how the exterior system is put together.

Heat, Movement and Why the Resin Is Polyaspartic

Exposed concrete out here swings further between a 115 degree afternoon and the night that follows it, and it expands and contracts as it goes. Polyaspartic is specified for the base as well as the topcoat because it holds its color in direct sun and stays flexible enough to move with the slab rather than crack away from it. Control joints are honored rather than filled over, so the concrete still moves where it was designed to move. The color layer sits underneath those two topcoats rather than on top of them, which is what keeps it out of the weather entirely. Call (602) 820-7739 or use the form on this page.

  • UV stability. Polyaspartic holds its color in direct sun. This is the single reason we do not put an epoxy topcoat on anything outdoors: epoxy ambers and chalks within a season or two of Arizona daylight.
  • Surface temperature. Color and texture change how hot a pool deck or patio gets underfoot. Lighter finishes with a broadcast texture run cooler than a dark, smooth, sealed surface, which matters more than anything else on a surface people walk on barefoot.
  • Grip when wet. Anti-slip aggregate is broadcast into the topcoat on pool surrounds, entry steps and any slope that drains across a walkway. Specify it before the quote, because it changes the topcoat build rather than being added afterwards.
  • Sealing against water and salt. A sealed slab stops absorbing pool water, irrigation runoff and the salt that comes with both, which is what drives spalling and the white efflorescence bloom on untreated exterior concrete.
  • Oil and stain resistance. On a driveway this is the practical one. Engine oil, transmission fluid and rust marks sit on the coating instead of soaking into porous concrete where nothing lifts them out again.

How We Coat Exterior Concrete

Three stages on every exterior concrete coating in Wickenburg, AZ, and the first one decides the other two.

1. Grind & Prepare

We mechanically grind, profile and vacuum the concrete with diamond tooling, which takes off the weathered top layer along with any old sealer. Exterior slabs almost always carry one, and a coating laid over an existing sealer has nothing to bond to. That preparation runs under every interior floor we lay: the four layers of an epoxy floor build, in order.

2. Repair & Prime

Cracks, spalled edges and pitted areas are cut out, filled and ground flush. Control joints are honored rather than filled over, so the slab can still move where it was designed to move instead of cracking somewhere new.

3. Coat & Seal

Then the system itself: a polyaspartic base, the color layer, and two coats of UV stable polyaspartic over the top, with anti-slip aggregate broadcast in where it was specified. A polyaspartic build goes down in a day, which on a driveway is the difference between one afternoon without the car and a week of it.
