Metallic is the option for a garage that is meant to be shown off.
Metallic pigment is suspended in a clear coat and moved while it cures, so the color travels rather than sitting flat. Worked one way it reads as marble or granite, worked another it comes out closer to wood grain, flowing water or natural stone.
No two of these floors finish alike, because the pattern comes from how the resin moves rather than from a print. It can be mixed to brand colors or matched to an interior, which is why showrooms and display garages tend to choose it.
Flake is the harder working of the two finishes.
The build is multi layer: polymer flakes broadcast into a wet base coat, scraped back once cured, then sealed under two coats of UV stable polyaspartic. That stack is what keeps the slab underneath free of stains and wear.
The flake layer leaves texture underfoot instead of a polished surface, so it holds grip when wet, and it resists chemicals well enough for commercial garages and engine performance workshops. It handles heavy foot traffic and light vehicle traffic.
Upkeep is a mop and mild detergent, with none of the waxing or stripping a vinyl floor needs. The system is moisture resistant and UV stable, so it is equally valid outdoors on a driveway, patio or pool deck.
Cured epoxy is hard and thick enough that vehicle weight, foot traffic and dropped tools do not mark it out of shape. It holds up against moisture, dust and grime, and against tire pick-ups and the chemicals that end up on a garage floor.
There is nowhere on a sealed floor for dirt to settle into, so cleaning is quick: a damp mop and mild detergent. A regular schedule is the whole of the maintenance.
Topcoats here are 100% UV stable, so sunlight through an open garage door does not discolor them. The base coats underneath form a waterproof barrier, which is what prevents a floor lifting or peeling off the slab.
Concrete cracks and stains because it is porous and rigid. A coating goes over it as a stronger, more flexible layer, taking the damage and the staining that would otherwise reach the slab.

For flake flooring, we broadcast the polymer flakes to provide even color and texture. For the metallic floor, we apply the metallic color coat. For 100% solids epoxy, we apply the second coat.
For flakes, we scrape off all excess bits to prepare the floor for the final step.
We finish with two coats of UV stable polyaspartic topcoat.
