Sand behaves like an abrasive on bare concrete. Every tire that turns on the slab grinds a little more of the surface into dust, and the pores that opens then hold oil, fuel and monsoon runoff. The floor gets darker and chalkier season by season.

Pigment is suspended in a clear resin coat and moved while it is wet, so the color separates and drifts rather than lying as one shade. The finished floor has real depth to it, closer to cut stone than to paint.
The movement is set by hand and fixed by the cure, so the pattern is particular to that floor and cannot be laid down twice. Color can be steered warm to pick up the tones outside, which suits a garage with the Superstitions in view through the door.

Flake is the finish that stands up to desert grit.
The system goes down in layers: flake broadcast into a wet base coat, scraped back flat, then sealed twice with polyaspartic that holds its color under a hard sun.
The scraped texture keeps footing when a vehicle comes in wet after a storm, and the flake pattern disguises the dust that blows in between cleans. It resists fuel, two stroke oil and the chemicals that come with keeping machines running.
Cleaning is a broom and an occasional mop with mild detergent. Nothing needs waxing or stripping, and the coating can carry out under a shade structure or an RV apron so no bare concrete is left to dust.
The cured film is thick and rigid, so ramps, jack stands and dropped tools do not cut into it. It resists sand abrasion, moisture and fuel, along with the hot tire pickup that pulls a painted floor apart in a single summer.
Once the concrete is closed, sand sits on the surface rather than embedding in it, so a broom clears the floor properly. That is the difference between a garage that cleans up in minutes and one that never quite does.
The top coats are 100% UV stable, so a door standing open through the afternoon will not bleach a line across the floor. The base coats seal against moisture from below, which counts where runoff finds its way under a slab.
Concrete is porous and abrades easily, which is a poor combination in a place with this much sand. The coating becomes the wear surface instead, so the slab underneath stops being sanded down a little at a time.

We start by mechanically grinding, profiling, and vacuuming the concrete garage floor to ensure the strongest adhesion possible.
No matter the damage, we repair every crack and hole in the garage floor.
We apply a base coat for flake flooring and 100% solids epoxy or primer coat for metallic epoxy.
For flake flooring, we broadcast the polymer flakes to provide even color and texture. For the metallic floor, we apply the metallic color coat. For 100% solids epoxy, we apply the second coat.
For flakes, we scrape off all excess bits to prepare the floor for the final step.
We finish with two coats of UV stable polyaspartic topcoat.
