You bring half the lake home with you, and the concrete between the water and the door takes all of it. A sealed surface is easier to live with than open slab, because there is nowhere for grit to bed into and nothing for it to work against. Two coats of UV stable polyaspartic close the floor over the color, so what you rinse is the finish itself. Dialed In Epoxy coats driveways, patios and pool decks across Lake Havasu City. ROC 358358, and we are licensed, bonded and insured.
Call (602) 820-7739Open concrete is porous, and anything abrasive that lands on it works into the surface where a broom will not reach. A coating closes that off. We diamond grind first, which lifts the weathered top layer along with any old sealer, then profile and vacuum so the resin bonds to sound material rather than to whatever was sitting on it. Once the color layer and the two finishing coats are down, the outside of that floor is resin. Grit sits on top of it instead of in it, so what you rinse off is the finish rather than the slab underneath.
That changes what looking after it asks of you. A hose does most of the work and a mild detergent handles anything walked in and left, so it is easy to keep on top of. There is no seasonal treatment to keep reapplying, because the topcoat is the finished surface rather than something spread over one. Where anti-slip aggregate has been specified the texture still rinses clean, as long as it went into the build rather than being scattered on at the end. You decide how much goes where, area by area, before anything is mixed. The full build is written out in how the topcoat handles abrasive grit.

The other thing this sun gets at is color, which is why nothing we lay outdoors is epoxy. Epoxy is not UV stable and ambers within a season or two, so a floor built with it stops matching itself. Polyaspartic goes down as the base and again as the two finishing coats, both UV stable, so the tone you chose is the tone still there in a few years. It stays flexible too, which matters on a slab like yours that grows all afternoon and shrinks again overnight. Three stages on every exterior concrete coating in Lake Havasu City, AZ, and the grind is the one that decides the rest.
We mechanically grind, profile and vacuum the concrete with diamond tooling, which takes off the weathered top layer along with any old sealer. Exterior slabs almost always carry one, and a coating laid over an existing sealer has nothing to bond to. That preparation runs under every interior floor we lay: the four layers of an epoxy floor build, in order.
Cracks, spalled edges and pitted areas are cut out, filled and ground flush. Control joints are honored rather than filled over, so the slab can still move where it was designed to move instead of cracking somewhere new.
Then the system itself: a polyaspartic base, the color layer, and two coats of UV stable polyaspartic over the top, with anti-slip aggregate broadcast in where it was specified. A polyaspartic build goes down in a day, which on a driveway is the difference between one afternoon without the car and a week of it.
